A Star was born on X Factor last night but we had to sit through a lot of craziness to get to it
MIAMI AUDITIONS-BEST BACKHANDED COMPLIMENT

The X Factor Miami auditions started off kind of wacky.
-First there was Rockabilly Nick Voss ( who looked like Edward Scissorhands cut his hair).
-Then there was the  girl who swore that she could see ghosts ( too bad the ghost of a great singer didn’t help her with her audition.)
-THEN there was Mirvanna Viscuso. Simon had the best backhanded compliment that I think I ‘ve ever heard him utter,
Mirvanna, I mean this as a compliment.  When I hear you sing, I think of wolves mating in the forrest.”
MIAMI BRINGS IT TO X FACTOR
Yes, it was crazy  but Mirvanna, just maybe,  in her spooky, groovy kind of way, turned the tide and suddenly the talent pool opened up in Miami!
-There was girl group 2 Squar’d followed by 32 year old Kendra Williams and Brendan OHara making eyes at Nicole S..or should I say Brendan Nice Hara..the guy had the best hair. It was bouncing and behavin’.
-There was 22 year old Jeramiah Pagan…who claims he’s one of seven male sopranos in the world. That could be a slight exaggeration but LA Reid ( who I’m really starting to dig)  paid Jeremiah a major compliment, ” Voices like yours are why great songs are written.”
THE X FACTOR MOMENT WE WERE WAITING FOR!!!
Finally,  there was 18 year old matter of fact, confident yet not cocky, Melanie Amaro.  When Melanie said that she was singing, ‘Listen’ from Dreamgirls,  I thought, oh- oh, THAT is a tall order to fill.
However, Melanie was fabulous. Melanie was more than fabulous. I listened to Melanie sing Listen 5 times. I watched people in the audience, waving their arms, swaying and crying.  WOW. What a performance!! I was blown away. Melanie received the judges praises without turning into a babbling mess. Melanie has got ‘the gift’.  She was INCREDIBLE.
Perhaps, just maybe, X Factor has found the next Aretha Franklin. YES, that’s how good Melanie Amaro is!
JAMES BROWN IN THE BUILDING
The only other highlight of the two hour show was a guy by the name of Dexter-a James Brown sound a like.
Of course, the judges said he sounded like James Brown but who cares?? They’re not talking about James Brown who fixes your car or James Brown who delivers your mail- we are talking JAMES BROWN- The Godfather of Soul! There are far worse insults. On top of that, the background story revealed that for the most part, Dexter is living out of his car.
The man needs a break.Sadly, many of the people on the show do.
During this particular year of reality talent shows, that desperation is palpable. That’s just sad.
It’s too bad 5 milion dollars couldn’t be spread out over many winners.
There may be somebody out there who can beat Melanie Amaro but I can’t imagine how good they will have to be.
