The Hunger Games movie- author Suzanne Collins can be proud. I just saw it last night and I loved it. Like many Hunger Games fans, I was worried that the movie wouldn’t live up to the book.
I read The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay in about 2 weeks total. I LOVED the books. So when I heard The Hunger Games movie was coming out..I thought, ‘uh oh’. Do I want to ruin it and see the flick?
My first concern was the casting. I didn’t think Jennifer Lawrence or Josh Hutcherson looked like my versions of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta. But two minutes into movie, I was relieved and blown away by the great job that both actors did. In fact, all the actors were great.
The Hunger Games movie is true to the book. It’s nearly two and half hours long and the time flies by.
Personally, I think The Hunger Games- the book by Suzanne Collins was so good that not even Hollywood could ruin it.
A great Hollywood blockbuster starts with a great story and then great effects.Though this seems like a simple formula, so many movies have been tragically ruined. Luckily Suzanne Collins was included in the screenplay. Smart. Now I look forward to the movie versions of Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
I know, I know..I sound like a sixteen year old but who cares? The Hunger Games is a terrific story- no matter what age you are. Check it out.
The Hunger Games movie is quite sanitized compared to the book but I suppose, that has to do with budget costs and young audiences. Not to worry, it would have been so easy for the movie version to go gory and it didn’t. It’s refreshing in fact.
I look forward to seeing Katniss Everdeen and Peeta in Catching Fire – the Movie.
