Listen to the Tina Fey Episode on Judy’s Podcast

One of my favorite funny people of all time is Tina Fey.

If you haven’t read her book Bossypants -treat yourself.

By the way, can Tina Fey and Amy Poehler just host all awards shows on the planet?

Here’s a little info about Tina, in case you’ve been living under a 30 Rock.

Tina Fey is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and playwright.

She is perhaps best known for her work in Saturday Night Live and for creating and starring in the hit tv series 30 Rock. Born Elizabeth Stamatina Fey (yes, Greek roots!) on May 18, 1970, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, she grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia. From a young age, Fey showed an interest in comedy and acting, participating in local theater productions and writing her own material.

Fey attended the University of Virginia, where she studied playwriting and acting and was a member of the improv comedy group called The No Exit Players.

How much fun would it have been to be in that improv troupe? After college, she moved to Chicago to pursue a career in comedy, where she joined the renowned improv theater troupe Second City. It was here that Fey honed her comedic skills and developed her unique voice as a writer and performer.

In 1997, Fey joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live, where she quickly rose through the ranks to become the show’s first female head writer.

During her time at SNL, Fey also made a name for herself as a performer, becoming known for her impersonations of figures like Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. Her work on the show earned her multiple Emmy Awards and established her as one of the leading voices in comedy.

In 2006, Fey left SNL to create her own TV series, 30 Rock, which was loosely based on her experiences working at SNL.

The show was a huge hit, winning all sorts of awards and earning Fey accolades for her writing and acting. In addition to her work on 30 Rock, Fey has worked on the films; Mean Girls, Baby Mama, Date Night, Whiskey Tango FoxTrot and Sisters just to name a few.

Fey is also a successful author, having published the bestselling memoir Bossypants in 2011.

The book offers a hilarious look at Fey’s life and career. Every paragraph is funny!

In addition to her work in television and film, Fey has also produced and written for projects such as the Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and the musical adaptation of Mean Girls.

What I like about Tina Fey is that she seems to remain humble and she uses her platform for good.  She’s an advocate for women’s rights and social justice issues. She is known for her sharp wit, self-deprecating humor, and willingness to tackle controversial topics in her work. Fey’s brilliant impact on the comedy world is immeasurable, as she has paved the way for so many other women in the industry.

Tina Fey is an absolute comedy trailblazer!

I have no doubt that she will still be cracking us up years from now. Thanks for the laughs, Liz Lemon. Your humor, intelligence and fearlessness have raised the bar for all of us and will continue to do so for years.

Until next time folks, Laugh Long and Prosper!
