For those who attended Stand Up For The Girls last week, we had a last minute replacement. One of our comics had a medical emergencythat required immediate surgery. She had a cancer scare but we’re happy to report that she is okay now. Her tumour was benign.
Sadly, there are so many cases where the diagnosis isn’t good news. This is why we do Stand Up For The Girls. I have just booked our event in another city because the rate of cancer in that city is higher than average. I met a number of young survivors who would like to help out.
There is a new cancer facility in that city and we will be raising much needed funds.
I will have details in the coming weeks.
50/50
In the meantime, I watched a movie that came highly recommended called 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon- Levitt and Seth Rogan . It’s about a guy who is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Doctors give him a 50/50 chance of surviving- hence the title.
This movie is not a total downer ( which is why I delayed seeing it). It’s actually very uplifting. 50/50 makes you realize how lucky we are everyday just to be alive. Please don’t take your health for granted.
Let us rise up and be thankful
For if we didn’t learn a lot today
At least we learned a little
And if we didn’t learn a little
At least we didn’t get sick
And if we didn’t get sick
At least we didn’t die
So let us be thankful.
